Cut Trident!

Wes West

Greenpeace want to know what you would do with £97 billion...

£97 billion is the amount that the Government say it will cost to replace the UK's nuclear defence programme, Trident.

Would you invest in renewable energy? Increase public spending on schools and hospitals? Or perhaps you'd really just like a pony, a fowl and some fox cubs?

Greenpeace UK asked Torchbox to design a campaign microsite that allows people to upload their own video explaining what they would do with £97 billion instead of buying more nukes. The system makes it quick and easy for anyone to upload their video, and allows Greenpeace to moderate new videos and promote "celebrity" videos to the top of the page. The site was built using Panda, Django and Flex - the same framework we used to create The Wave.

To help promote the campaign we also produced a short animation explaining why Trident should be cut, and suggesting better ways to invest what is, frankly, a mind-bogglingly huge sum.

Check out what other people would do with £97 billion, and have your own say at http://cut-trident.greenpeace.org.uk.
