Vote for the new face of BP

David Tomlinson

When Greenpeace announced their 'Rebrand BP' competition on Flickr, they were pleasantly surprised by the uptake and interest in the campaign. Cue Torchbox, and an online voting application to choose the most popular design.

When Greenpeace announced their 'Rebrand BP' competition on Flickr, they were pleasantly surprised by both the volume and quality of entries, and by the interest in the campaign. Word spread rapidly via Facebook, Twitter and the story got taken up by the likes of The Huffington Post.

The next obvious step was to set up a voting system for the logo redesigns, and for that they came to Torchbox. Using Python and Google's App Engine we were able to quickly build a voting application. Take up has been high, with over 10,000 votes for the leading logo entry and more than 45,000 votes being cast at the time of writing.

The design entry phase of the competition is now closed, but the voting is ongoing, with the prize of a day's training on piloting a Greenpeace Rigid Inflatable Boat and a day with a graphic designer to refine the logo design that wins.

Why not head over and help with rebranding BP?
