Local Heritage Initiative
Relationship
Torchbox won through from over 140 agencies to secure the OJEC advertised open tender for the redevelopment of the Countryside Agency's Local Heritage Initiative website.
Torchbox has since had our supplier contract extended for a further two years.
Mission
Our initial mission was to redevelop the LHI website, introducing a new design, architecture, and implementing our RationalMedia CMS.
The site had to meet and exceed the accessibility standards that its award winning predecessor had established, as well as to exceed all government standards in respect to accessibility, interoperability and metadata.
Solutions
The new site's CMS is fully edited and managed by the LHI Media Unit and, in addition to this, the CMS supports the individual editing of sub-sites by projects themselves (through a simplified user interface). The number of these sites currently runs at 300 and is projected to rise to 2000. So, there's currently over 300 editors on this CMS!
The site also uses RationalMedia rich media library features to deliver audio (mp3) and video (swf) on behalf of these projects. There are now approximately 50 short films available to the site's users.
We have also specified and built a browser-based Management Information and Reporting System for the LHI, which enables them to manage all of their grant, project, time and contact data both at the head and regional offices.
