From the moment I met the Torchbox team I knew the association was on to a winner.
The way they were able to get an instant feel for our varied client base and the type of site we wished to develop filled us with confidence all the way through the entire development.
Their innovative designs and varied concepts of ways to deploy information, made the project exciting to everyone who had a part to play.
But I think the key thing with Torchbox was their flexibility throughout the entire project, and I have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

The Stroke Association
Relationship
Torchbox won the competitive tender for the redevelopment of the Stroke Association website in April 2004. The Stroke Association is the only national charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages.
We worked very closely with the team at TSA throughout the design and development process, and are looking forward to continuing this relationship with phase II developments.
Mission
Our focus was to completely redesign and redevelop The Stroke Association website. In addition to improving online delivery of information and services to a large national audience, we also wanted to maximise the opportunities for users to build a relationship with TSA through the website through action-orientated navigation and access to a support community. Accessibility of the site for users with vision and mobility disabilities was, of course, a key consideration.
Solution
Torchbox produced a new site that offers a rich source of information for stroke sufferers, carers and researchers, and seeks to educate the general public about the condition.
We focused on usability and accessibility issues, with clear signposting, section colour-coding, standards compliance, and an easily scannable interface so that site users would get the most out of each visit to the site.
The implementation of RationalMedia means that there are now some twenty site authors throughout the Stroke Association, all of whom can author and edit their own areas of the site. We like to encourage a sense of competition to see who can develop the best area of the site!
We also implemented a community system to inspire the sharing of experiences, information, advice and support. The importance of such an area cannot be underestimated as it offers invaluable opportunities for establishing contact with others and gaining meaningful support that might not otherwise be available.
