Helen Chapman

Helen studied English at Keble College, Oxford, before doing a postgraduate course in Cartography at Oxford Brookes University. She worked as a cartographer in London on various projects including the London cycling maps now distributed widely by Transport for London.

Helen then moved on to web development, where her cartographic skills in design and usability were equally relevant. More recently she worked in the Astrophysics Department at Imperial College London, redesigning and redeveloping their website, as well as doing sysadmin work and Java programming for a European Space Agency satellite project.

Helen's skills cover design, programming and project management. She is the project manager for the Local Heritage Initiative and Multiple Sclerosis Society websites, and is currently managing the development of a new joint economics website for the World Wildlife Fund and World Conservation Union. She has also recently managed the development of an intranet system for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, enabling them to track enquiries via phone, email or the web.

In her spare time, Helen likes singing in choirs, reading and doing cryptic crosswords, as well as maintaining an enthusiastic interest in web design and usability. She has also performed in three comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
