At Torchbox we are always on the look out for people to join our team.
We have a pleasant and stimulating working environment, with offices set in a beautiful countryside park. We currently have a few specific openings:
The work we do is interesting and varied, and much of it is for organisations with a socially and environmentally progressive outlook that matches our own. This gives us a tremendous feeling of satisfaction every time we deliver a new project, and a real feeling that we are making an important contribution.
So, what sort of people are we looking for?
Whether you are creative or technical we would expect you to have:
- Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and listening skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences - we encourage open communication between our clients and all development team members
- Excellent organisational skills - the ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team
- The potential for team leadership - we promote from within and expect our staff to want to grow with the company
- A real enthusiasm for digital media - a personal as well as a professional interest
- A sense of humour - always welcome, especially when deadlines loom
If you have a technical background, we'd be looking for evidence of:
- A science/mathematics/computing background. We like our developers to have a degree in one of these disciplines
- A strong interest and, preferably, experience in web-based technologies
- A demonstrable aptitude for coding languages. You will probably be fluent in several languages
- Experience in the use of several operating systems
- Experience with Open Source, and ideally you will have contributed to at least one open source project
- A rigorous approach to, and pride in, your work
For designers and creatives:
- An extensive knowledge of web design tools, techniques and standards
- Good taste - an appreciation of good design and a keen eye for detail
- A working understanding of usability and designing for accessibility
- A graphic design qualification and knowledge of typography
- An impressive and current portfolio of work online
Project managers should be able to point to significant knowledge of the issues facing both creative and technical teams; good all-rounders with a track record of delivering complex projects.
