J-P Stacey

J-P studied physics at Wadham College, Oxford and, after a brief stint working in a company specializing in B2B XML technology, continued at Oxford, doing a DPhil in spectroscopy and quantum computation. Along with analytical and problem-solving skills, he learnt Perl and C, and smatterings of other scientific languages.

Finally finding a use for amateur interests in web publishing and other relevant experience, he moved into production of online journals for the publisher's publisher, Extenza e-Publishing Services. Here he was primarily responsible for overseeing the production and post-production of some thirty journals, although he broadened the job description to include writing and integrating complex content validation tools, XSL transformations, FTP alerts for the arrival of publishers' content, and a rudimentary content-management system to ensure the integrity of every
journal issue he managed.

J-P has since brought this mix of skills to Torchbox, where he continues his commitment to careful, high-quality content handling and production, while augmenting his existing programming skill set with numerous technologies including SQL and XQuery.

In his spare time J-P is a one-time comedian, a failed musician and an unpublished author. He has built a laser and has been laughed at by Harry Enfield, on separate occasions; his greatest wish is for three more hours in the day.
