Dr Neal Todd
Following a PhD in Astrophysics Neal worked with the European Space Agency on the software design for the data management and analysis systems of the Herschel Space Telecope, due to launch in 2007. He joined Torchbox as a Senior Developer in 2001.
Neal is an experienced programmer: he taught undergraduates C++ at Imperial College, and has formal Java training. Neal is also an experienced systems administrator.
At Torchbox Neal has developed intranet and extranet applications in a variety of languages including Java, Python, Perl, PHP, ASP and ColdFusion.
At Torchbox we realise that a vital part of application development happens before a single line of code is written, that of producing precise specifications. This result in an application that not only works in just the right way for the client from word go, but also has the capacity to grow with future needs. Neal is experienced in combining the business process expertise of the client with his own logical expertise and technical knowledge to achive this.
Neal is currently part of a team developing a government-backed online marketplace where individuals can sell their spare hours to employers. See the Slivers of Time information site for more details on what promises to be a major UK online service.
